Circuit Laboratory 8

Circuit Lab is a professional electronic circuit analysis tool that employs the modified node analysis method for accurate evaluation of circuit behavior.

The software supports four primary types of analysis:

• DC Analysis: Suitable for linear and nonlinear circuits with continuous voltage and current sources.
• AC Analysis: Facilitates the examination of linear and nonlinear circuits subjected to sinusoidal voltage and current sources.
• Multifrequency AC Analysis: Allows the analysis of circuit response across a spectrum of frequencies, including both linear and nonlinear configurations. This feature is particularly useful for assessing bandwidth characteristics.
• Transient Analysis: Enables the study of circuit behavior over time with sinusoidal or pulse voltage sources. Note that this feature is available as an in-app purchase.

Users can intuitively draw circuit schematics graphically before performing analyses.

Interaction with circuits is facilitated through gesture controls:

• Drag: Move the entire circuit to desired position.
• Tap on a component: Access and modify component parameters.
• Pinch: Zoom in and out for detailed view.
• Double finger double tap: Reset position and zoom level to default setting.

Tapping the DC button displays node voltages throughout the circuit.

The AC button provides voltage phasors at each node, or optionally, a Bode plot illustrating the frequency response (e.g., as demonstrated in the BJT 16 - Common Emitter example).

Phasor graphs can be navigated using similar gestures:

• Drag: Adjust graph position.
• Pinch: Zoom in and out.
• Double finger double tap: Reset view to original parameters.

The Transient analysis mode offers time-domain simulations, producing graphs of voltages and currents as functions of time, aiding in dynamic behavioral assessment.

The circuit components supported include, but are not limited to:

• Resistors
• Capacitors
• Inductors
• Mutually coupled inductors
• Independent sinusoidal voltage and current generators
• Pulse voltage generators
• Controlled voltage and current sources
• Operational amplifiers
• Diode types, including Zener diodes
• Bipolar Junction Transistors (NPN and PNP)
• N-channel and P-channel JFETs
• N-channel and P-channel MOSFETs

For each component, instructional videos are available to guide users through insertion and parameter editing processes.

The application supports efficient storage and reuse of circuits, with options to print circuit diagrams, component lists, and transient analysis graphs. Circuits can also be shared via iCloud or email in its native format for reimportation or as PDF documents for broader dissemination.
